Alberto Spinetti (Venezuela, 1973)
He is a sculptor and painter whose work spans a variety of media, including assemblages and free-standing sculptures in bronze, iron, and wood. His work is minimalist, yet colorful, featuring pared-down human figures whose melancholic, elongated forms are often accompanied by simple, geometric objects that bring to mind ancient civilizations or Mayan iconography. Spinetti obtained his BA in the Armando Reverón Fine Arts University Institute in Caracas and then went on to train internationally at the Kyoto City University of Arts in Japan and the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Valencia, Spain. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions, including shows in Japan, the United States, Spain, Colombia, and Venezuela. In 2011 he took part in New York Art Week and his work features in a Norwegian art collection. He currently lives and works in Mexico City.
