Gabriela Gonzalez Leal (México, 1981)

Gabriela González Leal is a graduate of the ENPEG "La Esmeralda". Born in Mexico City where she currently resides. Her work is part of the international projects “Money for Nothing” in France and Banknote Art Concept in Australia. She was an artistic resident in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was
nominated for the 12th “ Senefelder ” International Lithography Prize in Germany. Finalist in International Engraving Contest "Alfara" in Spain. She received an honorable mention at the IX International Miniature
MajdanArt, Serbia; 1st Biennial of the Volcanoes, Cuernavaca Morelos; 8th Alfredo Zalce National Biennial and 3rd Plastic Arts Contest “Dr. Alfonso Pérez Romo” in Aguascalientes. Her work has been selected in prominent national biennials and competitions. She has been a scholar of the FONCA Young Creators and
FOCAEM on three occasions. She has 10 individual exhibitions and more than 60 collective exhibitions both in Mexico and Portugal, USA, Germany, United Kingdom, Argentina, Serbia, England, Spain, Uruguay, Chile, Panama and Cuba. Her work is part of outstanding collections such as the Bank of Mexico, the Museum Zuckerman in Florida, the El Peñol Historical Museum in Colombia and the Sonora Museum in Mexico. Gabriela uses various mediums, both contemporary and traditional techniques. Works with concepts such as childhood, play, power, everyday life and the landscape, tending a link between the past and present that forces her to question her own environment. For her, the creative process is a meditation vehicle that invites the viewer to reflect on their own reality. The artist investigates, documents, experiments and plays with own and foreign languages ​​to achieve a discourse of her own.
