SILVIA ANDRADE

MEXICO

Silvia Andrade (Mexico, 1984)

Silvia Andrade completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the National School of Plastic Arts of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (2004 2008), where she specialized in the discipline of Painting, under the tutelage of Master Ignacio Salazar Arroyo. At the same institution she attended the Contemporary Painting and Research Seminar (2008 2010). Her participation in group exhibitions began in the last years of her academic training, presenting her work in forums such as the Ministry of Economy, El Colegio de México and the Casa del Poeta , in Mexico City. Her first individual exhibition, under the title "Dialogues", was presented at Galería 1 of the Academia de San Carlos (2010). Her work has been awarded the First Place in the "Botox" Painting and Photography Contest, of the Indianilla Station Cultural Center (2008) and has been selected in the Third Biennial of University Art of the University of the State of Mexico (2007) and the XIII Diego Rivera Biennial of Drawing and Print (2008). Cartographic references are recurrent in her pictorial work, as a metaphor the map is a place of reflection on the inner and outer time of the person. Ignacio Salazar explains: "Silvia reconstructs mental images through places, interior views or people. A continuum that takes the form of dreams, a dream that has resulted in paintings".
